Choose this day trip from Bucharest to visit the former summer residence of the Romanian royal family – Peles Castle and the famous Bran Castle known as Dracula Castle.
You will leave Bucharest early in the morning to travel to Sinaia. It is a 2-hour journey that takes you to the beautiful Prahova Valley, one of the gateways to Transylvania.
Once in Sinaia you will visit:
Castelul Peles
One of the most spectacular castles in Europe, it amazes tourists with its impressive architecture, the details of the decorative elements and a truly spectacular natural setting. Peles Castle was built to become the summer residence of King Carol I of Romania and had a cultural, administrative and symbolic purpose. It was built between 1873 and 1914 on an area of 1000 hectares, located on the property of Piatra Arsa or, as it was then called, Sinaia. The grandiose architecture is the work of Karel Liman and Johannes Schultz.
For the Peles Castle tour you can choose:
• One hour tour – Ground level
• 1.5 hour tour – ground and first floor
The professional guide is included for both tours
Video and photography will incur an additional fee at the museum.
Castelul Pelisor
It was opened to visitors in February 1993 and is an important part of the cultural heritage of the Romanian people. This building is part of the vast architectural complex created by King Charles I and was built between 1899 and 1902 as a gift from King Charles I of Prince.
Castelul Bran
Rather associated with the Dracula myth as a result of the novel of the same name, by the author Bram Stoker, the history of the Bran settlement (gate in Turkish) begins from the time of the Teutonic Knights, in the 23rd century, as a simple fortress. Only a century later, the locals of Brasov received the right to build a castle that was completed in 1388.
The transfer from Bran to Bucharest takes approximately 3-3.5 hours.

Castelul Pelisor
Pelişor Castle was built between 1899 and 1902, due to King Carol I's desire to offer the hereditary princes a residence. Considered the "Dream House" of Queen Maria, Pelişor Castle combines German elements with some Romanian elements, illustrates the Queen's tastes and her creed in matters of beauty, revealing her bold, mysterious and romantic personality. Moreover, the entire Pelişor preserves the vivid memory of the one who she would become the queen of all Romanians, being also the place where Queen Maria passed into eternity.
On May 24, 1903, the construction was inaugurated, and the Inaugural Act, painted by Maria on parchment, states that:
"We, Carol I, king of Romania, built this house next to the towering Peleș Castle for our beloved grandchildren. Sanctified by the church to bring the blessing of heaven, we, Ferdinand, prince of Romania and Maria, princess, have welcomed in this new building, with a grateful and loving heart. We entered with our children, Carol, Elisaveta and Maria, in the year of salvation 1903, and of the reign of King Carol the 37th, on the 24th of May. I gave him a name, Pelisor."
The Pelişor Castle thus became an integral part of the architectural complex built by King Carol I on the valley of the Peleş stream, alongside the Peleş Castle - the summer residence of the Royal House -, the House of Knights, the Treasurer, the House of the Guard Corps, the House of Architects and the Garden House.
The construction includes, in total, 99 rooms, compared to the Peleş Castle which has 160 rooms.
After the Revolution, the specialists of the Peleş Museum Complex succeeded in reconstructing a princely and royal space at Pelişor, largely respecting the original inventory of the castle, and in February 1993, Pelişor was inaugurated as a museum and was opened to the public.
After a turbulent history and the passing of Bran Castle through several owners, for a short period also in the possession of Mircea Cel Batran, it became the property of Queen Maria in 1920, and the current appearance and interior arrangements are the story of the life of the Queen, who, moreover, busy with the restoration and decoration of this castle.
